　　The exporter is separated from the foreign consumer by a long chain of middlemen. One should ask which is the most effective medium in getting a specific message to the customer abroad. The exporter， instead of relying only on personal selling， resorts to promotion campaigns to stimulate demand.

　　The exporter must select from a variety of possible advertising and publicity media which are available for export communications.
